چکیده

Peirce’s semiotics can be effectively used for modeling different sorts of signs. In this paper it is argued that semantic signs, which are signs from the semantic point of view, are no exception. It turns out, however, that a proper modeling of semantic signs needs a better understanding of the concept of qualisigns, as well as, of the relation between Peirce’s categories and his theory of signs.

Analyzing the problem of meaning in Shabastari’s Golshane Raz

Man has always been finding a complete model for semantics since the beginning. A model which can as a paradigm affects all branches of sciences. In the view of author, such a model can be found in Golshane Raz. Introducing the model from the work mentioned, the paper has tried to explain its sub structural foundations in three fields of ontology, epistemology and semantics. Some of the foundat...

Actual Futures in Peircean Branching-Time Logic

In the paper Indeterminsm and the Thin Red Line, Belnap and Green show that the notion of actual future seriously clashes with Objective Indeterminism. However, there are some Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence applications of the formal structure which arises from the actual future point of view. Of course, these applications have nothing to do with the ontology of objective indeterm...

A New Interpretation of the Semantics of "Moral Obligation" from Allame Tabatabaie's Viewpoint

The most important part in analyzing moral concepts includes those used as predicate in moral sentences covering moral concepts of valuation and obligation. Moral concepts in the field of values include those like “good” and “bad” while obligatory concepts include “ought to” and “ought no” and “duty”. Many papers have been written about “moral obligation”; however, dissociating the area of sema...

Bisimulation and p-morphism for branching-time logics with indistinguishability relations

In Zanardo, 1998, the Peircean semantics for branching-time logics is enriched with a notion of indistinguishability at a moment t between histories passing through t. Trees with indistinguishability relations provide a semantics for a temporal language with tense and modal operators. In this paper a notion of p-morphism and a notion of bisimulation, wrt this language and semantics, are given a...

From Linear to Branching-Time Temporal Logics: Transfer of Semantics and Definability

This paper investigates logical aspects of combining linear orders as semantics for modal and temporal logics, with modalities for possible paths, resulting in a variety of branching time logics over classes of trees. Here we adopt a unified approach to the Priorean, Peircean and Ockhamist semantics for branching time logics, by considering them all as fragments of the latter, obtained as combi...
